I don’t know about you but making friends is hard, especially when you move as often as I do. Case in point, I have lived in Arizona, South Carolina, and Indiana over the last four years. When I lived in Baltimore in the early 2000s, which btw – umm… how is it 2020, I was in a book club. LOVED it! Participated in one in Arizona, LOVED it! So if I started an online book club would you join me?
The first The Busy Llama Online Book Club meeting
I am going to be bold and brash, kind of like Frank Sinatra “I am going to do it my way!” I have also picked a book that is a bit bold and brash. Additionally, it is a very quick read because let’s face it, we are all busy. Ready?
I have selected We’re All a Mess, It’s Okay, a collection of short and funny stories curated by Amy Lyle. Unbeknownst to me, there is a llama on the cover! I think it is a match made in heaven. Following the wrap-up of the inaugural book club check back for a review on it. I will start off by saying some of the content is a little NSFW so we will be holding our discussion in a private Facebook group. Want more details, let’s do that!
All the details!
First, snag the book! Okay, got it ordered? Here are the key points:
- Join to join this group
- Look for the Welcome thread and introduce yourself
- Starting in March I will make some posts for us to start our discussion
- We will pick a day or evening to all get together virtually on Zoom to chit-chat about the book
It’ll be BYOBS, bring your own beverages & snacks since an online book club makes is kind of hard to share a communal meal. I’ll be pinning some ideas on one of my Pinterest boards. Jammies and old comfy t-shirts are a-okay for the dress because who wants to actually put on “real” pants.
I am very excited to host our first online book club! We will do a mix of humor, mindset, business books, and fiction. Additionally, we can work in a book club member selections so it isn’t just me picking our books.
If you are ready to join in just follow the steps above or drop me a line. Let’s get our read on!
