As the teachers will tell you, summer is almost here! I know a few that were ready for summer break back in January, but I digress. Do you have your summer travel plans ready? Pre-small child, I would just go where the wind took me, places that inspired me to go. Now, however, planning is important!
Summer Travel Plans with Small Children
I have been impatiently waiting for the local Y to announce their swimming courses so I could make our summer travel plans. I got tired of waiting after their fourth attempt to hire summer lifeguards and swim instructors. Therefore, I went ahead and made some plans and looked for some alternatives to the Y for swim classes. Done and done!
So, where are we going this summer? I am so glad you asked! So far we have three trips planned for June and they are each unique.
Adventure #1: Charleston, SC
Whoever said that good things in life don’t come free wasn’t kidding! However, this freebie was worth the boring presentation I endured to get the door prize for a two-night stay at the Charleston Marriott! Planning ahead was important with this option, as the first set of dates I wanted to book were taken!
We’ll be spending our trip exploring the Charleston City Market, hit up the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry, and eating our body weight in shrimp & grits! W and I are excited to explore somewhere new to her. Furthermore, I am happy to be going back to one of the neatest places in the state of South Carolina. Stay tuned to see our trip on Instagram and read our reviews of the sights and adventures! Catch-up on the full trip on Facebook.
Adventure #2: Kings Mountain State Park
Our next adventure is going to be very heavy on the adventure side of experiences. We are renting a camper van through Outdoorsy! Have I ever done this before? Nope! Do I have any clue what I am getting myself into? Nope! Does this have the potential to be epic? Yep! Did I need to plan ahead? Yep! Those camper vans get booked up fast! Did we survive? Yep!
Once we have our sweet ride, we are heading to Kings Mountain State Park in Blacksburg, SC for three nights of camping fun! We’ll roast some hot dogs and s’mores while just enjoying our time together. W and I love the hills and “hiking” as we discovered during our adventure to Skytop!
Have some great tips for me? Such as essential oil recipes to use as a mosquito repellent, the best way to roast a turkey dog, or how to entertain a small child for three days & nights at a campground? Drop me a line and let me know or comment below.
Adventure #3: Indianapolis, IN
W and I love to visit Indiana! We’ll be hitting up The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, again, for some great fun. Word of advice from our previous trip, buy early and save! Also, Monday – Wednesday are the more economical days to go. See, planning ahead is important!
Be sure to check out our review once it is posted for any other great tips on planning your visit! It’ll be our first YouTube review, as well as a written review, so I am sure it’ll be chock-full of bloopers! Love children’s museums like us? Then check out our previous adventures to Phoneix’s and Spartanburg’s.
